Lady Comets Soccer Wins 2-0, Heading to Regional Championship

The Lady Comets defeated Massillon Jackson 2-0 to advance to Saturday's Regional Championship.

The Solon Lady Comet Soccer Team is heading to the Regional Championship game.

The Comets defeated Massillon Jackson 2-0 on Thursday behind goals by Maria Collica and Mika Williams. Goalie Kristen Confroy preserved the shutout.

Collica opened the scoring with a goal at the 21 minute and Williams cushioned the lead in the 65th minute.

Solon, now 18-2, will play Strongsville in Rocky River. That game is set to begin at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The Comets are one of the eight Division 1 teams remaining in the state. If they win on Saturday, they make it to the final four and a chance to play in the championship game at Columbus Crew Stadium on Nov. 9.
