Football Preview: Comets Travel To Brunswick In Search Of A Win

Solon's 2012 football season has not gone as planned.

The Comets come into a week 9 matchup against Brunswick with a 4-4 record after last week's tough loss to rival Twinsburg.

The best way to salvage a disappointing season is to win the last two games, and that starts with defeating Brunswick on the road. The Blue Devils aren't slouches: They are 5-3 on the season.

Here's five things you need to know about the Week 9 matchup:

1. Game Time: 7 p.m. Friday. The game will be played at Judy Kirsch Field in Brunswick.

2. Matchup History: The Comets are 4-2 against the Blue Devils and defeated them 37-12 last season. Solon is on a three game winning streak against Brunswick.

3. Four Quarters: Solon Coach Jim McQuaide said good things happened last week against Twinsburg, but the Comets did not finish well. "We must improve and progress in order to be in a position to capture our next win," he said. "The intensity we had the first three quarters last week must be present throughout the entire 48 minutes this week."

4. Comets Freshman Excelling: Solon’s 2012 Freshman team has been outstanding this season. The team currently sits with a 8-1 record going into their last game of the year. The Comets shut out Brunswick 14-0 on Thursday and last week the team captured a 20-6 win over Twinsburg in their final road game this season.
