Five Solon Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

Kyle Hammonds, Chris Humphrey and Jovon Johnson will play football, Allie Sirna will play soccer and A.J. Hicks will be in track & field

Solon High School has a tradition of sending student-athletes to Division 1 universities on athletic scholarship.

This year was no different: Five seniors signed letters of intent this week to take their talents – and the Comet tradition – to the schools of their choice.

Chris Humphrey will play football at Kent State University and Kyle Hammonds and Jovon Johnson will play football at Ohio University. A.J. Hicks will throw shot put and discus at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and Allie Sirna will play soccer at the University of Tennessee.

Athletic Director Mark McGuire said the school was excited about the students carrying on their athletic and academic careers at Division 1 schools.

"We've enjoyed them on the field," he said. "We look forward to them carrying on that Solon tradition with them."
