Darian Hicks Nominated For Army All-American Bowl

Only the top 400 high school football players in the country are nominated.

Darien Hicks has already dazzled the crowd with .

In January, the Solon football star hopes to dazzle a national audience in the Army All-American Bowl, a showcase for the best high school football players in the country. It will be played at the Alamadome in San Antonio, Tex., on Jan. 5.

On Thursday, Hicks was honored as a nominee to play in that bowl. Only 400 players across the country are nominated, and Hicks is the only Solon player to ever get so close to playing in the bowl game.

Hicks will find out later this year if he will get to play in the game.

Stars who have played in the All-American Bowl include Cleveland Browns Tackle Joe Thomas, Minnesota Vikings Running Back Adrian Peterson and New York Jets quarterbacks Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow.

"I feel blessed that I have the opportunity to play in this game," Hicks said.

Hicks, a defensive back , said he wants to play atΒ  school where he can get a solid education, with high graduation rates and a close bond between coaches and players.
