Darian Hicks Gives Verbal Commitment to Michigan State

Solon Football standout has given his oral commitment to Michigan State

Solon's Darian Hicks says he will be a Michigan State Spartan next year, according to multiple media reports.

Hicks, a standout cornerback and special-teams player on the Comets football team, gave his oral commitment earlier this week. He was pursued by a number of big football schools, including Penn State, Pittsburgh and others.

Hicks, who is a nominee to make the Army All-American team, has been a versatile threat for the Comets, playing receiver, defensive back and kick and punt returner. He scored six touchdowns, including two as receiver and four in the return game.

"He's got great vision and can see the entire field," said Solon Coach Jm McQuaide last season. "Darian is a really skilled guy and he's good at getting himself into the open field. It's that natural ability to cut, stop and change direction."
