Although the Solon Speech and Debate team has experienced a long slew of successes throughout the entire 2011-2012 season, in and out of district, the culmination of the hard work of every single team member coalesced into one amazing moment. One shining, brilliant District Champion trophy was hoisted above the heads of all competitors at the Littles state-qualifying tournament at Berea High School this past Saturday as Solon took the championship for the second year in a row!

Congratulations to all team members! The sheer amount of dedication and hard work was truly exemplified through everyone’s performance at Saturday’s tournament. Every single person contributed to the 1st place finish and the team beat Gilmour by 141 points, 390.5 to 249.5. This is an amazing accomplishment and a great end to the regular season! The team looks forward to a strong showing at the State tournament in March, and also to qualifying many members to Nationals through the national-qualifying tournament on February 17-18 at St. Ignatius.
