Solon 2-Person Policy Teams Start Out Strong: Two Teams Qualified to States

This past weekend, Solon sent three policy teams into one of the biggest debate tournaments into the state.  The sheer size of the 32 policy teams failed to intimidate our teams as the team of Michael Chen and Ayush Gupta dared to pull an upset, beating the top policy team that had a 5-0 winning record—until they hit Chen and Gupta!  The policy team ended up as semifinalists and placed fourth, securing a spot to States.  The top eight teams qualify to States at each PDQ (Policy Debate Qualifying) competition, and previously at the Perry tournament, the team of Caroline Moore and Shivani Bafna qualified for States as well.

We congratulate these teams on their humongous achievement and wish them luck at the state tournament next year!  Go Solon!
