Solon High School's Zachary Schwartz, one of 10 finalists in the Maltz Museum's Stop the Hate essay contest, read his essay at Severance Hall on Sunday
Zachary Schwartz didn't win the big scholarship prize, but congratulations to the Solon High senior on being named one of 10 finalists in the Maltz Museum's Stop the Hate Essay contest.
Schwartz won a $1,000 college scholarship.
Schwartz read his essay on Sunday before a packed house at Severance Hall, and Solon Patch was there to record it. Schwartz also is a blogger for Solon Patch, and you can read his (very well written) entries .

Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage's Stop the Hate: Youth Speak Out essay contest involved more than 1,800 students from more than 120 schools who wrote essays addressing a variety of issues, from cyber-bullying and homelessness to ethnic, racial and religious discrimination, and offer heartfelt and innovative solutions.

Two other Solon students were honored being honored. Freshman Josh Chernomorets and seventh grader Arjun Ramachandran both received second place awards for their own efforts.
