Coach Dave FitzGerald said his team would surprise a few people this year and it didn't take the Lady Comets long to back up that statement. Solon battled defending state champion Walsh Jesuit to a 0-0 draw.

Goalkeeper Kristen Confroy had a huge game, coming up with 11 saves, and the Lady Comet defenders kept five-time state champion Walsh off the scoreboard. "The kids played great and their confidence grew as the game went on," said FitzGerald. "There are no superstars on this team, just great kids. I couldn't be happier with their attitude and effort."
