Solon Show Choir Festival Transforms into Competition Next Year

Miss the Solon High School Show Choir Festival? Check out our recap and some photos from the show

Music in Motion Director Gary Lewis announced Saturday at the 25th Anniversary Show Choir Festival that Solon High School will be hosting a local show choir competition next year.

Lewis invited the nights performing guests – high school show choirs from Euclid, Garfield Heights, Medina, and Twinsburg – to be next year’s first participants.

Saturday's festival featured a commemoration of the choir’s past years of creative performances. Throughout the night the choir showed a moving video highlighting each year and class of students before each guest performer. Additionally, on display in the nearby hallways were costumes of past performances and the many trophies won over the years.
Lewis gave a big thank-you to past Music in Motion Directors.

The night opened with a video introducing the audience to the hard work and dedication it takes to produce winning performances, and the choirs’ fun and humorous presentation in the video sparked laughter in the audience.

All the choirs performed with complicated and intricate choreography and harmonizations with multiple lyrics in singing. These groups are very talented. Next year’s competition judges have their work cut out for them.

The group dressed girls in feathered green dresses; and guys in, green coats and black-and-white checkered pants.

Songs in the show included: Free, Brown Derby Jump, When You Come Home, Get it Together, and Don’t Stop Movin’!

The choir started in beige suits and dresses, and later changed; girls into, black sequined leggings and black with bright green lighting patterned dress length tank tops; and guys into,  jeans and un-tucked black-collared button-down shirts.
