UPDATE 3:28 p.m.:

In an interview with Solon Patch, State Rep. Marlene Anielski, a Republican who represents Solon, said she originally supported the bill and signed on as a co-sponsor but now she disagrees with some of the changes to the bill and no longer supports it's current form.

Anielski said she voted no on the bill when it was heard by the House Education Committee.

Anielski said she has been in touch with the superintendents and school board officials in her district about the bill.

She said she is working to set up a forum with school officials and the bill's sponsor, GOP Rep. Matt Huffman, to discuss issues around the bill sometime before the end of the month.

The Solon School Board is expected to vote on a resolution tonight opposing House Bill 136.

That bill expands Ohio's school voucher program by essentially allowing students to attend private school at the expense of their home school district.

Superintendents, including Solon Superintendent Joe Regano, have already begun speaking out against the bill. Regano called the aims of the bill "unrealistic."

β€œAs a concept I have no problem, but as a practicality, I don’t think this will work,” he told the Sun News.

The bill has been discussed by the House Education Committee but has not been aired by the full chamber yet.

The Solon school board meets at 7 p.m. tonight. Come back to Solon Patch Tuesday for more coverage of this issue.
