Solon PTA Spring 2013 Budget Bin Begins Today

The giant semi-annual consignment sale will return today to Parkside Elementary School.

Madness for a good cause.

That's one way to describe Solon Council of PTA's Spring Budget Bin Sale, a giant consignment sale that is scheduled to begin today, March 13, and run through March 19 at Parkside Elementary.

Here's how it works:

On March 13, hundreds of consignors will flock to Parkside's gym to put their goods -- everything you can imagine -- up for sale. If an item sells, the consignor gets half the proceeds and the other half goes to theΒ PTA's Lois Gazeley Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships for Solon High School seniors.

Each year, the Solon Council of PTAs raises thousands of dollars for scholarships thanks to the Budget Bin.

The sale, which begins 10 a.m. March 14, is a great bargain-hunting opportunity. Nearly anything you can imagine will be there, from gently used clothing to household items to sporting goods. Looking for a prom dress? Last year, a girl visiting from West Virginia bought two new prom dresses for $10 to $15 each.

There's also the chance to find some rare curiosities. In the past the sale has had items for sale such as a grandfather clock and old photography equipment.

March 19, the last day of the sale, is $5 bag day. It's exactly what it sounds like: You get a bag and can fill it with as much stuff as you can fit, all for $5.

Anything not sold is donated to charity.

Stay tuned for more information about Budget Bin as the event draws closer.
