Solon High Business Club Gaining Experience With Watch Sale

Solon High School's Future Business Leaders of America is selling watches to raise money for good causes -- and to gain some valuable entrepreneurial experience.

Solon senior Matt Breitenbach is heading to Miami University on scholarship later this year.

But first, he has some watches to sell.

Breitenbach is a leading officer in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club. Breitenbach and his club members have embarked on a business venture to raise money to travel to FBLA competitions and make a donation to the American Heart Association.

The club is selling Modify Watches -- which are have customizable faces and bands -- designed with the Solon Comets logo. Check out the photo gallery with this article to see a close-up of one of the Solon-designed watches.

Beyond raising money for their club and for good causes, Breitenbach said the club is excited about getting some business experience.

"We're not worried about the profit, but about trying to get the experience and learn about selling," he said.

The watches are normally $35, which includes the watch face and two watch bands, but the club is using the classic business tactic to up sales: The lure of the sale.

Breitenbach said they are now selling the watches for $30 for a limited time. You can also get two watches for $55.

Breitenbach said the club will be selling watches at the High School Spirit Store this weekend.
