Science Olympiad Teams Honored For National Championships

Solon School officials held a reception Monday to honor the national champion Science Olympiad teams from Solon High and Solon Middle School.

Solon Schools paid tribute to its , giving the seniors a fitting sendoff and challenging the younger students to continue excelling.

The teams from the and each won the national championship this year, the latest in a string of victories that is turning Solon's Science Olympiad program into a dynasty.

It's the fifth consecutive national championship for the middle school team and the second in a row for the high school squad.

"You bring national honors to our school district," said Superintendent Joe Regano. "We are so very proud of each of you."

Middle School Coach Drew Kirian and High School Coach Donna Ross will both be retiring after next season. They both said they have enjoyed their time coaching the exceptional students in the program.
