School Funding Debate: Kasich Adviser Talks Education Budget Strategy

What is the proper way to fund schools in Ohio?

That's one of the big questions of our days, as the state wrestles with an $8 billion budget hole and tries to figure out a way to ensure that each student receives a quality education.

Last week, the Southeast Republicans held a forum on school funding, featuring an education policy official from the state, Solon school officials, a number of state representatives and other experts.

All week, we will post video excerpts from the forum. 

Today, former Ohio representatives Jim Betts gives his opinion on Gov. John Kasich's education budget. The governor's assistant director for education policy, Barbara Mattei-Smith, describes Kasich's approach to education funding.
