Onward! Solon Class of 2012 Graduates

Solon High School graduated 435 seniors in the Class of 2012, one of the most successful in Solon history.

has sent another group of young men and women out to conquer the world.

The Class of 2012 graduated Thursday night during a commencement ceremony at the State Theatre in Cleveland.

and gave inspiring commencement addresses (we'll have video of them posted later today), and the students were called one by one to receive their diplomas.

Principal Erin Short listed the many accomplishments of the 435 students in the Class of 2012, including:

  • 19 National Merit Finalists and 21 Commended Scholars. That's the most in Ohio.
  • One U.S. Presidental Scholar (Lisa Guo) and four students in all were finalists. The honor means Guo is one of the top 141 students in America.
  • 75 students had a grade-point average higher than 4.0.
  • 122 students earned between 3.5 and 3.99 grade-point average.
  • 320 students, 73 percent of the class, recieved merit list or honor roll status their senior year.
  • 216 students will recieve an honors diploma
  • 95 percent of the class will be going to college.
