How Solon Middle Won The Science Olympiad

The Solon Middle School won the Science Olympiad National Championship. See who won which events.

The Science Olympiad team successfully last Saturday at the National Science Olympiad tournament at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. 

The team completed their fourth undefeated season in a row with a victory by 62 points over second place Marie Murphy out of the Chicago area.

Winning their events were:

  • Josh Eston & Rohin Devanathan in Reach for the Star
  • Kevin Tang & Zach Stanik in Storm the Castle.

  • Kevin Tang & David Geng in Keep the Heat
  • Josh Eston & Stephen Dayneka in Meteorology

  • Zach Bogorad & Lois Wu in Road Scholar
  • Sheng Zhang & Kathleen Cheng in Helicopter Egg Drop

Winning third place were:

  • Achuth Nair & Rohul Rambthatla in Microbe Mission
  • Jonathan Wang & Rahul Rambhatla in Towers
  • Chris Guo & Jonathan Wang in Water Quality

Placing fourth was Chris Guo & Emily Wang in Awesome Aquifer; placing fifth was Lois Wu & Grace Xu in Food Science; and placing sixth were Dorothy Chan & David Geng in Bottle Rockets.
