National Night Out With Solon Police

On Tuesday, the City of Solon and the , with the help of the Solon Recreation Department and Solon Senior Center, will host the first National Night Out in Solon. 

There will be 30 minute presentations on various topics such as Home Safety, Internet Security and Children, Mail Fraud and Investment Scams, and Identity Theft to name a few.  There will also be vendors exhibiting various home and personal safety items and services.  Additionally, there will be activities for the kids, food, and an appearance by McGruff the Crime Dog!

We are asking Solon residents and businesses to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors, and come out with us on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Solon Community Center to celebrate this wonderful community, meet your neighbors, and have fun! Please join us on National Night Out.

The National Association of Town Watch (NATW) is a nonprofit, crime prevention organization which works in cooperation with thousands of crime watch groups and law enforcement agencies throughout the country.  National Night Out was introduced in 1984 by Executive Director Matt A. Peskin who felt that a high-profile, high-impact type of crime prevention event that would encourage communities to be more proactive in crime prevention and more committed to looking out for each other in their communities.  Last year there were 15,325 communities from all 50 states involved in National Night Out.
