The Solon Organized Parent Education Network is hosting a seminar to talk about behavior strategies in children.
The program is slated for Thursday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. at the Board of Education offices.
The title will be "Behavior Strategies for Parents with Children in Crisis," and leading the session will be former Solon special education teacher and Crisis Prevention trainer Katie Tuohey, director of special education and assistant professor in the Education Unit at Ursuline College.
Dr. Tuohey has teaching experience in K-12 settings with individuals who have needs ranging from mild to severe.
The presentation will include information regarding the stages an individual may go through in a crisis or high-stress environment and provide strategies for intervention.
The program will focus on responses parents and care givers can use to defuse a potentially crisis situation. No techniques are guaranteed, but attendees should expect to leave with some practical responses to crisis challenges.
