Bus Driver Summer Training in Session in Solon

Hundreds of Ohio bus drivers participated in a course that enhances skills that could be life-saving while driving students.

More than 250 bus drivers from around Ohio got some "extra credit" for participating in an Ohio Pre-Service Bus Driver Training Program at Solon High School.

“Ohio has over 19,000 school bus drivers and we travel over a million miles a day transporting Ohio students to and from schools,” said Bob Harmon, an instructor with the Ohio Department of Education in a Fox 8 story. “Part of our rule is you need to know all the safety procedures, pick up and drop off, the hand signals, proper loading and unloading methods.”

This was the 35th year for the program. Those who attended took 10 different driving courses aimed at enhancing life-saving driving techniques.
