Parkside Elementary School in Solon now has a new principal.

The school board unanimously approved the hiring of Amanda Sullen on Friday, according to the school district.

"Mrs. Sullen brings outstanding leadership and administrative skills to her position as Parkside principal," Superintendent Joe Regano said in a media release.  “Amanda is an excellent communicator and adeptly builds rapport with students, parents and teachers alike. I am confident she will mesh well with our administrative team and is a great fit for our district.”

Sullen served as assistant principal for three years at Harvey Rice Elementary School in Cleveland. She has also taught kindergarten and first grade at the Warner Girls’ Leadership Academy in Cleveland and at Central Primary School in Bedford.

Sullen has her bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Badwin-Wallace College and her master's in education from John Carroll University.

“I am very excited to be joining the Solon Schools and the Parkside community,” Sullen said. “I am anxious to meet all of the students and their families as well as starting to collaborate with the Parkside staff. Together, we will continue working hard to maintain Parkside’s academic excellence.”

Sullen and her husband, Tim, along with their two daughters recently moved to Solon.
