Three-Candidate Race for Ward 6 Council Seat Forces Sept. 10 Primary

There are only two contested races in Solon including city council seats in Ward 4 and Ward 6.

Three's company when it comes to the race for Solon's Ward 6 city council seat, forcing a Sept. 10 primary election to narrow the field to two.

Incumbent Edward Kraus will fight to retain his seat against Adam Fair and Richard Mendelsohn.

The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections’ primary deadline for filing was 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The top two vote getters will then face off in the Nov. 5 election to be Ward 6 councilman.

Mendelsohn, an attorney, has run for both a Solon school board seat and mayor in the past. Fair is currently a member of the ward redistricting committee.

Only one other race will have a challenger, Ward 4, as incumbent Bill Mooney will not seek re-election.

In his place the seat will be filled by either Stanley Gordon or Marc Kotora.

Both Mayor Susan Drucker and Ward 2 Councilman Robert Pelunis will be unopposed.

Each elected position is a four-year term.
