I really think that big tip jar smack in your face on the drive thru counter is a bit much. To me it shouts ...Hey its all about us! We are the artists that push the buttons. Of course Starbucks encourages it as they are not going to pass up an opportunity for someone else to pay their workers. Its getting like Mexico with a tip jar everywhere. Even the garbage collectors that never leave their truck seats expect a gratuity for just showing up! They never touch the garbage. And to all you rich or weak minded that think you should tip everyone for doing their jobs, more power to you. I tipped the starbucks guy today because he made me a non standard latte and gave me (unsolicited) the total left on my starbucks gift card. He added value, and I recognized him. Otherwise I would never tip for coffee.
