Solon Residents File Opposition to Proposed Neptune Lakes Subdivision

Residents write letter to city council opposing a 13-home subdivision proposed at the corner of Neptune Lane and Miles Road.

Residents near a proposed 13-home subdivision off Neptune Lane want the to stop the development.

Developer Randy Kertesz is looking to develop a new subdivision at the corner of Miles Road and Neptune Drive in northwest Solon. The plan needs the approval of city council.

Developer Randy Kertesz, who also built the nearby Shoppes of North Solon plaza, wants to build the homes on a 22-acre lot on the southwest corner of the intersection. The property includes a pond known as Neptune Lake.

But neighbors have been protesting the project since it was introduced to city committees earlier this month, saying the project will be a nuisance and could lead to flooding problems. City council members Vice Mayor Ed Kraus and Councilman Rick Bell said they are concerned about flooding issues at a recent safety committee meeting.

"We feel Neptune Lakes is a bad for the Community of Solon," the residents write in their letter. "We also believe Neptune Lakes will be a nuisance; it will dramatically impair our right to quiet use and enjoyment of our property and cause us direct financial damage."

According to planning documents, the new subdivision would be accessed from a cul-de-sax off Neptune Drive where the road curves and turnes into Woodall Road.

The plan is currently before the planning commission.
