Solon Library Closed This Week For Construction

The library will be closed from 5:30 p.m. Wednesday until 9:30 a.m. Monday to begin work on a renovation project.

Renovation work on the inside of the Solon Library will begin this week, resulting in the library being closed from Wednesday through Sunday.

The library will close at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and re-open at 9:30 a.m. Monday, said Library Director Lane Edwards.

The closure will allow the library to get lots of interior renovation work done during the holiday weekend.

Edwards told the Sun News that they will install new carpet and a new circulation desk.

The library renovation project will cost up to $1 million and include interior changes to relieve congestion at the library entrance and also add new space at the south end of the building.

The new and improved library will include a larger children's area and an outdoor reading area.

Other features of the expansion include a larger entrance area, a reorganization of the service desk, a new "new materials" display, a computer work area, moving the teen section and increasing public seating.

The city of Solon will contribute $113,000 to the project.
