Solon Finance Committee To Create Fraud Policy

Solon doesn't have a fraud policy, and the new finance director wants to fix that.

The city of Solon does not have a formal fraud policy, and the new finance director wants to fix that.

Dennis Kennedy, who was hired a few months ago as the new finance director, plans to address the lack of a policy to detect and report fraud at the Finance Committee meeting tonight. It begins at 6 p.m.

In a memo to the committee, Kennedy wrote that he is surprised Solon doesn't have such a policy and that he wants to create one.

As an example, Kennedy submitted to committee members the policy from the city of Brooklyn.

That policy essentially sets out zero-tolerance regarding fraud, defines prohibited actions like embezzlement and theft and sets up complaint procedures.
