Solon Accepting Applications to Honor Veterans at Memorial

The city wants to engrave the names of local veterans on either the armed forces stones or the paved walkway at the new memorial

The city has a new veterans memorial in the center of town and it at the park.

Now Solon just needs the names of some heroes to honor.

The city is now accepting applications from veterans and family members of veterans who want to have their name on the wall. Applications will be processed each year, and must be received by Aug. 31 to be eligible for that year's Veterans Day celebration.

Under the city's policy, Solon veterans who died during service are eligible to have their name carved into the memorial stone for their service branch. Surviving veterans who lived in Solon either before or after their service are eligible to have their name engraved into the memorial walkway at the monument.Β

The veteran or family member seeking to have a name engraved must provide proof of the veteran's Solon residency and service history.
