Russo Files for Re-Election to Solon Council; Richmond, Meany Also Running

If necessary, the primary is slated for Sept. 13

Three members of the Solon City Council have filed to reclaim their seats for the next four years.

Council members Bill Russo, Nancy Meany and Toni Richmond all filed with the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections. Russo, who represents Ward 7, is filing for re-election. Both Meany and Richmond, who represent Wards 5 and 3, respectively, are filing to win their first elections since they were both appointed to their positions.

None of the candidates have primary opponents yet. If a primary is necessary, that election is scheduled for Sept. 13. Mary Sankovic had filed for the Ward 5 seat against Meany, but she told Solon Patch she will not run for the seat.

No one has yet filed for the Ward 1 seat, the final one up for election. That seat is currently held by Rick Bell, who was appointed to the post.

The filing deadline for candidates is June 30.
