Ohio Rep. Marlene Anielski, who represents Solon, wants the Ohio Legislature to pass a bill to reform public pensions.

House Bill 323, sponsored by Anielski and other Republican legislators, would revoke the retirement benefits of any public official convicted of felony extortion or perjury.

"Retirement and disability benefits are privileges that are provided to individuals who serve in positions of honor and trust," Anielski said in a news release.Β  "An individual who is convicted of betraying the public trust by means of extortion and perjury should not - and must not - be rewarded public retirement and disability benefits."

The bill is before the House Criminal Justice Committee.
