Quick Takes: Planning Commission Holds Candid Discussion On Rental Regulations

Here is a fast roundup of action taken by planning commission Tuesday night

Planning Commission held a number of discussions and took some action during its regular meeting Tuesday night. Here is a quick roundup:

  • The commission decided to hold a at the planning commission for further discussion after holding a frank discussion involving the proposed legislations shortcomings – namely that it will be difficult to regulate and may not get to the root of the safety, aesthetic and crime problems associated with rental units. After the planning commission passes it to city council, a public hearing will likely be held in April.
  • The commission approved variances so that the Briar Lake Homeowners Association can upgrade the dam and spillway on Briar Lake, a requirement of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. City Council will vote on the variances March 7.
  • Because of a dearth of new applications, the commission will hold only one meeting next month, on March 15.
