New Subdivision On Neptune Drive Considered By Safety Committee

Developer Randy Kertesz wants to build the 13 homes on a 22-acre lot on the southwest corner of the intersection.

Developer Randy Kertesz, who also built the nearby Shoppes of North Solon plaza, wants to build the homes on a 22-acre lot on the southwest corner of the intersection. The property includes a pond known as Neptune Lake.

According to planning documents, the new subdivision would be accessed from a cul-de-sac off Neptune Drive where the road curves and turns into Woodall Road.

The plan needs the approval of city council, as well as permits from the Army Corps of Engineers regarding wetland impacts. The Solon Planning Commission began deliberating on the proposal Feb 28. The Public Works is always

But some neighbors are opposed to the development, arguing that the plan will damage the quality of life in their neighborhood, including concerns about flooding and destruction of wetlands.

Kertesz told neighbors during a recent planning commission meeting that he understands their concerns and wants to work with them to address them.

"We understand that when you buy a home next to vacant land you always hope that land will be vacant,"Β  Kertesz said, later adding: "Nobody likes change, I can understand that. We want to make it as less of an impact as possible. So we'd like to address all the concerns that you have."
