Mayor Susan Drucker recently delivered her State of the City Speech, touting Solon's successes in the last year.

Her comments before the Solon Chamber of Commerce hit on a variety of points, including:

  • She credited residents who have put together events such as the 2013 Tolerance Fair and the Blue Ribbon Fun Fest. She said that's what makes Solon a great community and unique.
  • Solon has received great recognitions, including honors from Money Magazine and Cleveland Magazine as a top place to live.
  • Drucker said that 42 news businesses moved into the city last year, with 29 companies receiving government assistance in the form of incentive grants and tax breaks.
  • The city's industrial district has its lowest vacancy rate ever, Drucker said
  • She touted upcoming projects, including the citywide traffic signal update and improvements at the busy SOM Center and Aurora roads intersection.
