LaTourette Says Health Care Decision 'Disappointing'

Now that the bill is deemed constitutional, LaTourette said it's the politician's job to see if it's good policy. Do you agree?

U.S. Rep. Steven C. LaTourette (OH-14), who represents Solon, today released the following statement on the :

"The decision today should put to rest the notion that Chief Justice Roberts is a partisan rubber stamp. Today's decision, while disappointing, is an example of what the Founding Fathers envisioned as three independent branches of government. Now that the Supreme Court has ruled the bill is not unconstitutional, it is for the nation's elected leadership to determine if it is good policy," LaTourette said.

"I've always believed there were some good things within the law, like covering pre-existing conditions and keeping your children on your insurance up to age of 26. Now that the highest court in the land has spoken, I still worry the law takes away from the patient doctor relationship and puts more decisions in the hands of bureaucrats. I remain concerned that the law lacks common sense and does nothing to reduce cost for those who currently have coverage and there are a whole slew of new taxes that are certainly not good for hardworking taxpayers."

LaTourette is the representative for seven Ohio counties which includes cities like Stow, part of Cuyahoga Falls, Twinsburg, Solon and Mentor

Do you agree with LaTourette? Tell everyone in the comment section.

The Congressman is right opn target. Obamacare is a tax that does nothing to lower or to contain health costs. What it does do, is to take millions of dollars from Medicare, remove patients from their doctors, and supply a new tax on hard-working Americans (the Supreme Court said that a "mandate" was not Constitutional, but the law, as a tax, was). Implementation of this tax will cut job creation, business growth, and an economic recovery in the entire country (as is the way with tax increases).
The only way to correct this error of a tax, is to elect Representatives and Senators, Republican, Democrat or Independent, who promise to repeal the Obamacare tax, and enact legislation that will serve and protect America's Middle Class.

Hyperinflation is all but inevitable now. BTW, over 50% of the US public opposed Obamacare ... Obama should remember that he's a president, not a king.

Justice Roberts did the conservative cause a favor by finding Obamacare constitutional as a tax rather than under the commerece clause. First it brings the issue from a legal one to a political fight. Second it is now established as a gigantic middle class tax hike. Third if this dosen't bring the libertarians to conservative cause, nothing will. The President will now have to defend the health care law for what it really is, a massive tax hike. I believe Justice Roberts just gave the White House back to conservatism.
