The city of Solon is using more than two dozen sites for its deer culling efforts this winter. The culling is being done from stationary sites. Solon Police are securing the sites prior to shooting. The addresses of the culling sites were obtained by public records request from the city of Solon.

Some caveats: The placemarkers on this map are only approximate - they do not mark exactly where shooting is occuring. The placemarkers were generated by putting each property's address, obtained from the city, into Google Maps.

The sharpshooting operations are being conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Divison of Wildlife.

Solon officials hope to cull about 300 deer. The carcasses will be processed and the meat will be donated to local hunger shelters.

The city is only using private or off-limits public properties to shoot deer, and adjacent property owners have been notified. Hunters will be shooting from stationary areas and not roaming. Solon Police will provide site security during hunting. Solon officials say they have successfully used sharpshooting methods in the past.

The shooters are using different rifles than in past culling effortst. It's possible residents will hear gunshots.
