Former Mayor Fills School Board Vacancy, Glavin and Seibert Keep Seats

Julie Glavin, Dorothy Seibert and Kevin Patton won seats on the Solon school board Tuesday.

Former Solon Mayor Kavin Patton will join incumbents Julie Glavin and Dorothy Seibert on the Solon school board.

Glavin received the most votes with 4,285 followed by Patton with 3,601 and Seibert with 3,527, according to unofficial results from the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections. The three candidates defeated , , and .

Board member Roger Goudy's decision not run for re-election left an uncontested seat open. That left a space open for Patton.

"I want to say thank you to the Solon voters for their expression of confidence to move me over to the board," Patton said. "I've had an interest in this for a long time and I was lucky enough to serve in the city's municipal government for a number of years."

He added, "I look forward to being a postive contribution on the school board."

This will be Glavin's third term on the board.

"I'm absolutely thrilled," Glavin said. "I certainly want to thank the residents of Solon for their continued support and this vote of confidence. I want to recognize the gentlemen who participated in the campaign as well. It was a privilege to get to know and work with them."

Seibert was not available for comment.
