Example Deer Management Plan Includes Bow Hunting

With less than two months before the Solon safety committee expects to receive a comprehensive deer management plan, officials are hard at work studying what other municipalities in Ohio are doing.

On Friday, Public Works Commissioner Jim Stanek passed out copies of a comprehensive deer management plan being used by the village of Granville.

Stanek told council members he didn't believe in "re-inventing the wheel" with Solon's plan, and asked them to read the plan.

The plan includes both nonlethal and lethal methods of managing deer, specifically regulated hunting by crossbow and traditional bow-and-arrow.
