A developer is looking to develop a new subdivision at the corner of Miles Road and Neptune Drive in northeast Solon, but some neighbors are speaking out against the plan.
Developer Randy Kertesz, who also built the nearby Shoppes of North Solon plaza, wants to build the homes on a 22-acre lot on the southwest corner of the intersection. The property includes a pond known as Neptune Lake.
The plan needs the approval of city council. The Solon Planning Commission will begin considering the proposal at its meeting tonight.
According to planning documents, the new subdivision would be accessed from a cul-de-sax off Neptune Drive where the road curves and turnes into Woodall Road.
But some neighbors are opposed to the development. Teresa Whitham, writing on behalf of the nearby North Park Estates said in an e-mail to city planners that residents in their subdivision chose to move there because it was "a quiet, peaceful area surrounded by natural beauty."
She wrote that the proposed development "would most certainly end the quality of life we have enjoyed here."
The planning commission meets at 7:30 p.m. tonight at .
