Solon Appoints New Vice Mayor, Committee Reps Tonight

With four council members beginning new terms, the mayor will appoint a new vice mayor and representatives to council committees at tonight's city council meeting.

Solon Council members Rick Bell, Toni Richmond, Bill Russo and Nancy Meany will take the oath of office tonight and begin their four-year terms.

All four candidates ran unopposed in November. For Bell, Meany and Richmond, it marks their first election victory -- all three were appointed by city council to fill vacancies.

The city council meets at 7:30 p.m. in . The pre-meeting caucus is set for 7 p.m.

Also on the agenda is mayor and city council appointments as the city's elected officials prepare for 2012.

The mayoral appointments scheduled to be confirmed tonight are for Vice Mayor, Alternate Vice Mayor and various council committees, including public works, safety and public properties and others.
