Thousands Worth of Copper Stolen From Illuminating Company Site

The information in this report is from the Solon Police.

Employees of the Illuminating Company discovered a hole cut into the fence around their facility on Solon Road and learned that thousands worth of copper wire had been stolen, according to Solon Police.

A 38-year-old employee found the hole in the fence on Jan. 18 at about 12:45 p.m. Employees conducted an inventory on supplies and learned that 5 spools of copper wire were missing, according to the police report.

That wire was valued at $5,673.85, according to the report. Employees said the wire had been there the previous day.

This theft is similar to another one at the Earth Fare construction site in Solon Square, where expensive spools of copper wire were stolen earlier this month.
