Thief Caught Red Handed After Cutting Finger On Stolen Razor: Best of the Blotter

Here are some of the weirdest police reports and incidents from departments across the region.

Here are this week's most bizarre police calls, reports and charges. All information was provided by police reports from departments in Patch communities. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Sharp shoplifting — A sharp edge prevented an accused thief from leaving a Westlake drug store with a bundle of merchandise.

Police say a 21-year-old Avon Lake man attempted to steal $100 worth of products from a retailer on Detroit Road on Nov. 3, but a cut on his finger halted his getaway. He was putting the products down his pants, including the razor blade that ended up cutting him.

He has been charged with petty theft.

Gotta go — Solon Police arrested a 62-year-old Garfield Heights man on Nov. 17 on U.S. 422, but not for his activity behind the wheel.

The sight of Samuel L. Holcombe urinating on the side of the highway led to his drunken-driving arrest. According to the police report, an officer saw Holcombe get out of his truck and stagger to the side of the road to relieve himself.

He was soon arrested and taken to Solon Jail. His .221 breathalyzer result was nearly three times over the legal limit.

Angry driver — Road rage clearly got the best of a Cuyahoga Falls man last weekend before and after his arrest in Stark County.

Police say Christopher L. Schneider, 22, rear-ended a woman's car on State Route 93, ran her off the road and then got out to pound on her hood.

He claimed he had a gun, ran off and then returned to continue beating on her car. He ran again, but police found him near Route 93 and Spring Grove Avenue.

Schneider hit and spit on Lawrence Township officers during his arrest, according to reports. He has been charged with several felonies, including assault and menacing by stalking. He in in custody at Stark County Jail.

Jealous ex — Strongsville Police received a report on Nov. 18 of a suspicious woman who was seen taking something out of a car parked in a Rustic Hollow driveway.

A man who saw the woman's actions managed to keep her there until police arrived. The car belonged to her ex-boyfriend. She took his GPS out of his car in an attempt to find information about his new girlfriend, police said.

The ex-boyfriend declined pressing charges.
