Suspect In Solon Theft Case Commits Suicide

A 27-year-old Westlake man was found dead in possession of valuables taken from a Solon home, reports the Plain Dealer.

A 27-year-old Westlake man wanted for a theft in Solon shot himself to death as he was being pursued by law enforcement, according to the Plain Dealer.

Andrew Baumgartner was nearly arrested by a Medina County sheriff's deputy after he was found wandering down I-271 on Jan. 31 with a loaded gun, the newspaper reports.

Baumgartner escaped from the deputy and ran into the woods. After setting up a perimeter and searching for him, authorities found him dead in the woods with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the newspaper.

In his bag were jewelry and watches that were taken from a Solon home on Jan. 30.

Solon Police reportedly planned to search Baumgartner's car, which was left on I-271.
