Solon Police Prepare for Drunk Driving Checkpoint
Police will set up a sobriety checkpoint somewhere in Solon on Saturday
Don't drive drunk in Solon this weekend.
Solon Police are setting up a sobriety checkpoint somewhere in the city Saturday to take drunk drivers off the road, said Sgt. Jamey Hofmann with the Solon Police Department.
The department will also be using "saturation patrols" to check for drunk drivers in targeted parts of town.

“Highly visible and well-publicized checkpoints are an important part of the equation because they increase the perceived risk of arrest and make people think twice about drinking and driving,” Hofmann said. “We want the public to know where we are, and we want those who read about the checkpoint to tell everyone they know that we’re cracking down on impaired driving in the city because we want everyone on our roadways to be safe."
From 2006 to 2010, there were 65 alcohol-related crashes and one death in Solon.

Police say that if you drink, remember to use a designated driver, call a cab or find some other way to make sure you aren't behind the wheel.
