Man May Have Abducted Himself to Extort $700 From His Mom

Case is under investigation after Solon woman received text messages to wire $700 to release son

A woman on Stockwood Drive received a frightening text message: Her son had been abducted and would only be released if $700 was wired by Western Union.

The son, a 28-year-old Solon resident, was recovered safe, but might not be out of hot water. That's because police are investigating the case and looking into possible extortion charges.

According to the police report, the son was located with the help of the phone company at a building at Harvard Road and East 104th Street in Cleveland.

Law enforcement went to the building and found the son and another man who was arrested by Cleveland Police on unrelated charges.

The son was found with his cell phone and car keys in his possession.
