Solon Police Arrest Man Accused of Triple Stabbing in Mayfield Heights

Matthew Cepik was hit by a box truck on US 422, according to police.

The man accused of stabbing three people in Mayfield Heights on Monday, Sept. 2 was found off US 422 and Harper Road in Solon, according to a media release from the Solon Police Department.

At around 5:53 a.m. Mayfield Heights Police told Solon officers the suspect may be in the area.

Minutes later the man's car was found in a parking lot in the 5500 block of Harper Road just off US 422.

The suspect was running from the K-9 unit a half-mile down the road trying to cross US 422 when when he was hit by a box truck. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he is under guard.

Mayfield Heights police said the suspect, Matthew Cepik, of Mayfield Heights, broke into the house of his ex-girlfriend, where he stabbed her, her mother and a family friend, reports our partners at News Channel 5.

All three were taken to an area hospital, where the women are listed in stable condition and the man is in critical condition.

According to police, Cepik was taken into custody and transported to Hillcrest Hospital in critical condition. Solon police said the suspect has military experience and served multiple tours of duty in Iraq.
