Solon Man Arrested After Crashing Car, Staggering Away

A 53-year-old Solon man was arrested April 12 after he staggered away from the scene of a car crash, according to .

The man, who lives on Sherwood Drive, was charged with drunken driving , leaving the scene of an accident, driving with an open container of alcohol and failure to keep assured clear distance.

Witnesses told police that the man crashed his car near 34690 Cannon Road and then climbed out and began staggering around. One witness told the police that the man called someone on a cell phone and said he was leaving, according to the police.

An open can of Thunder 101 Peppermint Schnapps was found in the man's car, according to the report.

The man was later apprehended by police and test for drunkenness. Officer said the man could barely stand without support.

He refused a breathalyzer test.
