Prank Gone Wrong: Man Takes Co-Worker's Car, But He Thinks It's Stolen

An 18-year-old Solon resident wanted to play a prank on his co-worker, so he took his truck.

His friend, though, didn't get the joke: He reported the car stolen to Solon Police.

Now the 18-year-old has been cited with disorderly conduct, avoiding being charged with car theft because he explained the situation.

On April 19, the car owner was working at Chicago Deli at the Solar Shopping Center when a fellow employee said he heard the man's truck start.

They went outside to see a man driving away in the truck. The man called the .

It turns out the truck had also disappeared from the man's home on Forest Glenn earlier, but the man assumed his parents had brought the truck to the deli.

The truck was later found near the 41-year-old man's house.

The 18-year-old was arrested and explained his prank. He said that he had taken the keys the day before as part of the prank.

He was cited with disorderly conduct.
