Police Unsure if Man Wanted by FBI Barricading Himself in Home is Armed

Police have been on scene at the Liberty Road home since 8 p.m. Tuesday.

As the standoff outside of of Alex Spirikaitis' enters the 14-hour mark, there are few new developments.

Several loud bangs have been heard from the property over the past hour.

Neighbors walking by said the massive house is far back on the property.

The Solon Police Department went to a Liberty Road home in Solon Tuesday evening to arrest a man with a warrant, but Alex Spirikatis remains inside this morning after barricading himself inside. 

The FBI told our partners at NewsNet5.com that the man appears to be alone but it is unclear whether he has weapons

The standoff started at 8 p.m. Tuesday. The FBI said Spirikaitis was the CEO of Taupa Lithuanian Credit Union on E.185th in Cleveland, which was shut down by the National Credit Union Association on Friday due to fraud.

The Solon Police Department tweeted the following recently:

  • "DETOUR FOR SB TRAFFIC ON LIBERTY RD BETWEEN BAINBRIDGE AND AURORA RD...USE BAINBRIDGE TO SOM CENTER TO AURORA RD"
  • "Residents on Liberty Road near Woodbury are asked to look for police officers in the area to assist them leaving the area thru the closed rd."
  • "Liberty Rd is closed between Aurora and Woodbury due to a tactical situation. Please avoid the area completely."
