Police Round Up Door-To-Door Solicitors

rounded up a number of door-to-door salesmen who were making the rounds in Solon neighborhoods without having permits.

It's illegal to solicit door-to-door in Solon without a permit, and all the men arrested and charged with commercial canvassing were given prior warnings. It's a fourth-degree misdemeanor.

Two of the men, who were both arrested June 5 while soliciting on Briar Dale Lane and Wintergreen Drive, said they were selling magazines for an outfit called Ultimate Unity. Both had been warned by police when they were caught soliciting the day before.

Arrested and charged were 34-year-old man from Pontiac, Mich., and a 22-year-old man from Chicago.

Another man, from Ringle, Va., was picked up for soliciting on Brainard Road later on June 5. He had been warned against soliciting on May 4. He also was arrested and charged.
