Police Report Rash of Catalytic Converter Thefts in One Day

The commonly-stolen car parts can be resold for up to $400.

Three catalytic converter thefts were reported to Solon police, all on the same day from the same model of car.

According to police, the parts were taken from three different Chevrolet Cavaliers on June 12 between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., all from different locations.

The first report was from 6262 Cochran Road. A second report came in just down the street at 6100 Cochran Road.

The third was stolen from 2770 Miles Road.

All cases were closed due to lack of leads. The catalytic converter is the device that controls a vehicles emissions on the bottom of the car. The metal can be sold at a price anywhere from $80-$400, according to police.
