Police: Drunken Man Crashes Car With Wife, Young Kids Inside

A 42-year-old Solon man was arrested and charged with drunken driving after say he crashed his car while his wife and young children inside.

Arrested and charged was Joseph J. Shaner, 42, of Solon. He faces charges of drunken driving, endangering children and failure to control.

According to Solon Police, on Aug. 3, Shaner and his family were driving in his classic Auburn car near Aurora and Liberty. Police say he was speeding and lost control of the car and crashed it into a tree.

Officers arrived on the scene to find the wife and the children, both aged 5, running through a yard, according to the report. They were stopped, as was the driver.

Staner recorded a blood alcohol level of .219, over the legal limit of .08, according to the police report.
